  • Seeds

  • Plant organization - monocots & dicots

  • Photosynthesis

  • Trees

  • Flowers (+ pollinators!)

This is achieved through:

  • art lessons (painting, chalk/pastel drawing, coloured pencil botany drawings, botanical print-making)

  • story-telling

  • demonstrations (that you can set up in your home as well)

  • prompts for taking the learning outdoors into your own local plant communities

  • Main lesson book page creation (for every lesson!)

Your Guide:

Caitlin Amajor is excited to bring her love of art and teaching to the Waldorfish community! As a Waldorf student growing up in a small Northern California town, Caitlin’s love and appreciation of artistic and experiential learning began at a young age. With the encouragement of her parents, Caitlin pursued her certificate in Waldorf teacher training after college, and taught in the middle school grades as a class teacher for seven years. While the list is long, some of her highlights of being a teacher are teaching geometry and physics, watercolor painting, and observing the many triumphs and successes of her beloved students. Caitlin enjoys discussing and expanding Waldorf pedagogy and how it can evolve in the modern world, and also has a wealth of knowledge (because of much trial and error!) around the practical elements of teaching on a day to day basis. She offers helpful tips and observations from her own experience, and inspires others to explore the wide-ranging and artistic realm of geometry and botany.

All lessons are filmed in HD. You get access to the course content for the lifetime of the course.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Adult educators should be prepared to manage the supply list, and assist in keeping your child on task as much as they need. Some activities, like sprouting seeds, require advanced preparation for lessons. We will have a clear "How to Prepare for Next Time" section, and depending on the child, the adult educator should be prepared to assist the student however much they need so they can move through each lesson smoothly.

As this is Botany after all, there will be prompts and activities that would ideally be completed in an outdoor space, a garden, a yard, a patio, etc. However, we are aware that everyone lives with varying access to outdoor spaces! With that in mind, all of the activities are kept general and with suggested modifications, with the hopes of making them enjoyable and accessible to all, no matter where you live, or what time of year it is!

We will be providing various supplemental activities throughout the course that an educator could use in other subjects, such as Language Arts or gardening. These sections are designed to be used by the adult educator, though one may decide to look over the options with their child and see what sparks inspiration!

Lastly, a parent/adult educator is always welcome to work alongside the student- Botany, art, and connection with the outside world is for everyone to enjoy!
